A 46-year-old man is being held at Meru Police Station on suspicion of defiling a Form Three student.
It is reported that the incident occurred on January 1, 2026, in a rental house opposite Faraja Court premises in Makutano, Meru town.
According to Imenti North Subcounty Police Commander Ambrose Kyalo, the suspect allegedly lured the minor, and a form three student from a local secondary school to his rental house where the act took place. The suspect reportedly confessed to the crime.
This followed after the victim’s mother noticed that her daughter was not in good state, prompting her to enquire. The student revealed the incident leading to the arrest of the suspect who had allegedly paid the girl Ksh 100.

The victim is admitted at Nairobi Women’s Hospital Meru, as the police investigate the matter. The police commander have urged parents to be vigilant and responsible, especially regarding their daughters’ safety.
“I urge parents to be on the lookout and monitor the movement of their daughters especially these young school going girls and students,” the Imenti North Subcounty Police commander said.
The incident comes at a time when Meru County is ranked one amongst the top counties in teenage pregnancies and early marriages especially amongst school going girls and students.
