An elderly shopkeeper narrowly escaped death after he was caught red-handed in bed with a schoolgirl in his rental house.
The 66 years old man reportedly lured a form three girl into his house at Ribwago village Nyankoba location near Keroka town where they were found in the act.
According to Keroka township location chief Kennedy Ndege, the suspecting parents of the girl acted on a tip-off from villagers and after tracing their daughter they found her with the man in the house.
They locked the door from outside and alerted the public who surrounded the house and demanded that he come out.
The area chief rushed to the scene on time and restrained the public from taking the law into their hands.
The two suspects were taken to Keroka police station and recorded a statement.
Keroka police officer Jailus Muriuki confirmed the arrest.
“The suspect was brought here by the public for allegedly cohabiting with a school girl.” He said.
The officer said that the suspect will be arraigned in court after the completion of the investigations.
Residents said the suspect is notorious for seducing school girls.
They said that they have been reporting his queer behaviour to the police but every time he was arrested, he bought his way from custody.
They appealed to the higher authorities to probe the allegations and allow the law to take its course in order to redeem school girls from defilement.
