- Machakos Chief Officer Charles Mutinda has commended Makueni Boys Secondary School for its improved academic performance and discipline.
- He praised the students for remaining calm during a period when schools across the country experienced unrest.
- Mutinda challenged the school to raise its mean score above nine and compete among Kenya’s top national schools.
Machakos Chief Officer in the Office of the Governor, Charles Mutinda, has praised Makueni Boys Secondary School students for their improved academic performance and for remaining calm during the recent wave of student unrest witnessed in parts of the country.
Speaking during the school’s prize-giving day, Mutinda commended the principal and his management team for their leadership, noting that the principal was recently recognised by President William Ruto alongside one of the school’s students known for entertaining audiences by imitating the Head of State.
He said the recognition reflected the school’s commitment to excellence both in academics and co-curricular activities.
Students urged to focus on grades
Mutinda encouraged learners to focus on attaining good grades rather than competing for class positions.
“For heaven’s sake, what is wrong with being position 50 with a grade B? Work for good grades, always maintain your discipline and I have no doubt you will go far,” said Mutinda.
He challenged the school’s administration to raise its mean score from 8 to 9 and above, saying Makueni Boys, as a national school, has the potential to rank among the country’s top-performing institutions.

Chief Principal Francis Mutua attributed the school’s success to the discipline exhibited by its students, expressing confidence that they would continue excelling.
“Here we produce all-rounded learners, and many of them proceed to university and become great people in future,” said Mutua.
