  • According to head coach, Wesley Yegon, the technical bench has already intensified training sessions, shifting emphasis from county dominance to regional competitiveness, where the stakes are significantly higher.

Following their dominant run in Bomet county rugby, Longisa Boys High School have now shifted full focus to preparations for the upcoming Rift Valley secondary school games scheduled for July 6–13 in Narok county, where they aim to extend their winning streak onto the regional stage.

The Bomet champions once again proved their superiority in 7-a-side rugby after retaining the county title for a record 17th time, edging out a resilient side from Tenwek High School 17–12 in a pulsating final at Kapkwen grounds.

However, despite the celebrations, the mood at Longisa remains firmly grounded on the next challenge. The technical bench has already intensified training sessions, shifting emphasis from county dominance to regional competitiveness, where the stakes are significantly higher.

Head coach Wesley Yegon noted that the team’s immediate priority is to correct minor defensive lapses exposed during the final while improving speed in transition play.

He emphasized that the Rift Valley stage demands higher intensity and tactical awareness.

“We are proud of what we achieved, but we know Narok will bring tougher opponents. Our focus now is preparation, discipline, and fixing the small mistakes we saw in the final,” Yegon said.

Training has been structured to include endurance drills, set-piece refinement and simulated high-pressure matches designed to sharpen decision-making.

The coaching team is also working on squad depth, ensuring that bench players are ready to deliver when called upon.

School Principal Robinson Langat lauded the team’s commitment, saying the victory reflects the school’s strong sporting culture, but warned against complacency as they step into a more competitive arena.
