Busia leaders and senior government officials have joined family, friends and colleagues in mourning veteran journalist Moses Radoli, who died following a road accident along the Nambale-Mumias road.
Radoli, who served as the first Daily Nation correspondent in Busia during the 1980s and 1990s before briefly joining the Standard Group, is being remembered as a pioneering journalist who helped put Busia on the national news map.
His death has sparked an outpouring of tributes, with leaders describing him as a fearless journalist, astute storyteller and mentor who played a significant role in shaping journalism and public discourse in the region.
Leaders pay tribute
Principal Secretary for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Development Susan Mang’eni eulogised Radoli as a fearless pioneer and consummate professional who gave Busia a strong voice in the national media space. Mang’eni currently heads the State Department for MSMEs Development.
Arthur Osiya, the Principal Administrative Secretary in the Executive Office of the President, described Radoli as a sharp and credible storyteller whose deep understanding of border and community affairs contributed significantly to public discourse. Osiya’s current official designation is Principal Administrative Secretary, rather than Presidential Advisor.
Former Attorney General Amos Wako mourned Radoli as a long-time friend and principled journalist who served Busia and the country with integrity, courage and professionalism.
Former Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong described the veteran journalist as a steadfast chronicler of the county’s history, noting that his reporting kept residents informed on key developments for decades.

Radoli’s contribution to journalism extended beyond news reporting, with colleagues and leaders crediting him with mentoring a generation of journalists and laying an important foundation for media practice in Busia.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by the family in due course.
