Limuru Member of Parliament (MP) John Kiragu on Thursday disbursed Ksh 18,141,000 in bursary funds to Grade 10 students across 17 schools in Limuru constituency, giving 2,847 learners a fighting chance to stay in school.
The cheque issuance ceremony was held at Ngenia High School, drawing parents, school administrators and community members who came to witness the milestone education initiative.
Each student, drawn from both day and boarding schools within Limuru and its surrounding areas, received Ksh 7,000 to help cover their schooling costs.
MP Kiragu said the disbursement was aimed at ensuring no child is locked out of education due to financial constraints. He urged parents present to embrace peace and remain focused on investing in their children’s futures.

“Education remains the strongest tool for transformation, and we will continue to invest in it fairly, transparently, and without discrimination,” he said.
Manguo Secondary School received the highest allocation at Ksh 763,000, followed by Gatuura Secondary (Ksh 609,000) and Ngenia High School (Ksh 518,000). Kamirithi Secondary received Ksh 497,000 and Nguirubi Secondary Ksh 476,000.
Other beneficiaries included Nmuna Secondary (Ksh 329,000), Kamandura Girls (Ksh 327,000), Thigio Boys (Ksh 245,000), Rironi Secondary (Ksh 238,000), St. Mary High Girls (Ksh 196,000), and Ngecha Girls (Ksh 196,000).
Completing the list, Umoja Secondary received Ksh 189,000, Gichuru High School and Bibirioni Boys each got Ksh 168,000, Makutano Secondary received Ksh 140,000, and Ndungu Girls and Mukoma Secondary each received Ksh 119,000.
The MP reaffirmed his pledge to build an empowered, educated and inclusive society.
