Leaders ask Ruto to establish Nyamira university as promised

Leaders in Nyamira want University

Nyamira leaders have asked the President William Ruto led government to fulfill their campaign pledge of putting up a University in Nyamira County to boost the education standards in the county.

They said this was one of the dreams of the Nyamira County Assembly majority leader Elija Osiemo who recently perished in a road accident.

Speaking at Nyamaiya ward during the MCA’s burial, leader led by Governor Amos Nyaribo on Monday, mourned the legislator as a man who loved education and so building a university here would appease his heart and honour the community.

“This is the time we need Kiabonyoru University than before because the late Osiemo championed the proposal for its establishment.” Said Governor Nyaribo.

The funeral was attended by other prominent leaders in the County including Stephen Moga West Mugirango MP, Patrick Osero Borabu, Solister General Shadrack Mose and Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu.

Machogu assured parents of the government’s financial support for their University education through the new model of funding which he said is friendly to all learners.

He assured the parents and guardians of deserving university students that their smooth learning in the institutions of their choice will not be interrupted.

“Every applicant will get a University loan to enable them to complete their education.” He said.

Concerning the establishment of the new University, he said the government has its elaborate procedure for establishing and supporting its learning institutions and promised that their request will be looked into.

Kisii County Governor Simba Arati and Senator Onyonka reiterated the need for the community to shelf political differences and forge ahead towards the development of the County.

Arati said that the Establishment of a second public University in the region will ease the congestion of students at Kisii University which he said, admitted the highest number of new students this year.
