KUPPET Migori County Officials are planning to hold special prayers at the Legion Marias’ shrine at Got Kweru to curse the Cabinet Secretary for Education Prof George Magoha over arrogance.

The officials led by the Executive Secretary Mr. Orwa Jasolo said they resorted to the move due Magoha’s arrogance while executing his duties.

“Teachers are currently dying across the county simply because they are depressed. Working under the current regime has not been easy,” said Jasolo.

Speaking at Oyugi Ogango Girls Secondary School where he had gone to console the teachers after the demise of Principal Martha Ouma stated that the move by the Ministry of Education to send Sh500 per student to secondary schools during the resumption of face-to-face learning for 2020 KCSE candidates is very frustrating.

“The ministry has failed to address our demands and with the kind of character shown by the CS, this is now the best move to punish him. We also want the president to fire him off that position since he has shown incompetence in the office that controls the future of the nation,” he added.

His sentiments come a day after the death of Oyugi Ogango Girls Secondary School Principal bringing the total number of school heads who have succumbed to complications suspected to be Covid-19 since schools resumed to 16.

On the other hand, union aspirants for the same position Mr. Kenn Boro dismissed the move as mere political rhetoric meant to divert teacher’s attention on the main issues currently affecting them.

“The union officials are charged with the responsibility of addressing and fighting for the rights of teachers,” said Boro.
