The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) opened applications for 13 diploma and certificate courses at Kenya Utalii College (KUC), allowing 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidates to apply for hospitality and tourism programmes through the national placement portal.

KUCCPS stated that applicants have until April 1 to submit their applications through the placement system, which the agency said would bring greater equity and efficiency to admissions at the college.

“KUCCPS has opened its online application system for 13 diploma and certificate courses offered at KUC, marking a major milestone towards enhancing equitable, fair and efficient access to the world-respected hospitality and tourism training institution,” the agency stated.

The seven diploma programmes available are Hospitality Management, Culinary Arts, Front Office Operations, Food and Beverage Management, Housekeeping and Laundry Management, Travel and Tourism Management, and Tour Guiding and Administration.

Six certificate courses are also on offer, covering Front Office Operations, Pastry and Bakery, Housekeeping and Laundry Operations, Food and Beverage Service and Sales, Travel and Tour Operations, and Tour Guiding and Administration.

KUCCPS Chief Executive Officer Dr Agnes Wahome stated that the placement system is designed to ensure merit-based and fair access to training opportunities, while also giving institutions the ability to draw students from across the country.

To apply, candidates are required to access the KUCCPS student portal at students.kuccps.ac.ke, select their preferred programmes in order of priority and submit their applications before the deadline. A non-refundable application fee of KSh 1,500 is payable on submission.

Students who require application support can visit KUCCPS offices at ACK Garden House on 1st Ngong Avenue in Nairobi, Kenya, or directly at Utalii College, or any of the 58 Huduma Centres operating across the country.

The partnership between KUCCPS and KUC marks a significant shift in how the college handles admissions. For decades, KUC operated its own independent admissions process outside the national placement system. The integration brings it in line with other government institutions, including Kenya Medical Training Colleges and the Kenya School of Law, that have previously transitioned to KUCCPS-managed placements.

Kenya Utalii College, which falls under the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife, has, over its history, trained tens of thousands of graduates who have gone on to work in the hospitality industry locally and internationally.
