The Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) will open its online registration portal on Monday, September 7, 2026, allowing schools to register and update details of their teams and players ahead of the 2027 sporting year.
The portal will remain open until November 15, 2026, giving secondary schools across the country more than two months to complete the registration process.
Schools will be expected to use the portal to register their teams and update player details, providing the association with an accurate database of learners who will participate in secondary school sports competitions during the 2027 season.
The registration exercise is expected to help KSSSA streamline the management of school sports by ensuring that player and team information is captured and updated before the start of the new sporting year.
Schools urged to complete registration on time
School administrators and sports officials have been urged to take advantage of the registration window and ensure that all required information is submitted within the stipulated period.
The exercise comes as schools prepare for another competitive year of secondary school sports, with institutions expected to field teams in various disciplines under the KSSSA calendar.
Digital registration of student-athletes is part of a broader effort by the Ministry of Education and KSSSA to strengthen verification and ensure that eligible learners participate in school competitions. A 2025 Ministry circular made digital registration of student-athletes mandatory through the KSSSA platform integrated with the education management information system.
The KSSSA portal has increasingly become an important platform for managing school sports registration and player information, supporting the association’s efforts to enhance efficiency, transparency and proper coordination of competitions.

Recent competition guidance has also required participating players to be registered on the KSSSA portal, including for newly introduced disciplines such as chess.
Schools that fail to complete the registration and updating of their details within the November 15 deadline could face challenges when preparing for competitions in the 2027 sporting year.
