KNUT Secretary General Mr. Collins Oyuu has asked the government to employ and deploy more teachers in the country to end understaffing.

Speaking during the 18th KEPSHA Conference held at Sheikh Zayed Children Welfare Centre in Mombasa, Oyuu expressed concern that teacher shortage has adversely affected learning in schools countrywide.

He further attributed dismal performance in national examinations in schools in the country  to teacher shortage.

Oyuu stated that teachers play a vital role in offering quality education to children. He further urged NGOs to support education programmes and make them a success.
