Top leaders of the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) and numerous educators have gathered in Sogom, Baringo North constituency, to celebrate a traditional engagement ceremony for their colleague Sylas Rutto, who serves as the Union Chairman for the Baringo Branch.
During the event, KNUT officials, spearheaded by Assistant Executive Branch Secretary Elizabeth Komen, commended Rutto for his outstanding contributions.
Koomen lauded his extensive career as an educator and his pivotal role in shaping future generations, in addition to his transformation of the local society.
Additionally, she recognized him for his motivational skills and life coaching, which have significantly empowered fellow teachers in addressing the challenges they face.
“Rutto’s leadership at the helm of the teachers’ union has been instrumental in finding solutions to various issues affecting the profession,” Koomen stated.
Also in attendance were the Baringo County Assembly Speaker Vincent Kemboi, MCA Saimo Kipsaraman and MCA Aengwo, who formerly served as the assistant Baringo Executive Branch Secretary before entering politics.
They also acknowledged Rutto’s selfless leadership in community outreach programs, which have led to the construction of churches and schools.
The assembly speaker emphasized that Rutto, alongside his colleagues, has made the Baringo Branch a prominent advocate for teachers’ entitlements.
