The Kitale National Polytechnic has intensified preparations for the September 2026 academic term after officially welcoming a new cohort of Public Service Commission (PSC) trainers through a comprehensive induction programme aimed at strengthening teaching capacity and institutional performance.
The newly recruited trainers were received by Chief Principal Dr. Tom Mulati and the institution’s management during the launch of a three-day induction programme at the polytechnic.
The orientation seeks to equip the trainers with critical knowledge on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) policies and the Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET) framework to ensure they are well prepared to deliver quality, industry-responsive training.
According to the institution, the induction programme is designed to enhance curriculum compliance, improve instructional delivery and align training with national TVET standards. It also aims to familiarise the new trainers with institutional policies, operational procedures and the expectations of the polytechnic.
Dr. Mulati said the recruitment and induction of the new trainers form part of the institution’s broader strategy to strengthen academic and technical capacity as demand for skills-based education continues to grow.
He noted that equipping trainers with the necessary competencies before they assume their teaching responsibilities will enhance the quality of training offered to learners while supporting continuous institutional growth.
The Chief Principal emphasised that a competent and well-prepared teaching workforce remains central to the successful implementation of the CBET curriculum, which focuses on practical skills, innovation and employability.
Institution prepares for September intake
The induction comes as the institution finalises preparations for the September 2026 academic term, with management expressing confidence that the additional trainers will improve learner support, expand programme delivery and boost overall institutional performance.
