Kisumu is ready to host the Kenya Secondary schools Sports Association (KSSSA) National Term One games slated for April 5 to 12, 2026.
This was revealed by the Nyanza Region Director of Education, Lawrence Karintumi, who said that all preparations are complete, adding that most teams are already in the region, with others expected to arrive this evening.
He appealed to players to remain disciplined during and after the games.
The residents have welcomed the event, saying that the games are expected to boost business in Kisumu city, with hotels, restaurants, and local vendors anticipating a surge in customers.
“The influx of teams, officials, and supporters will give the local economy a significant boost,” said a local business owner. With thousands of visitors expected, Kisumu city is gearing up for a sporting extravaganza
Elsewhere, Coach Austin Lee is really pumped up about St. Mary’s Yala’s Rugby 15s team, affectionately calling them the “Black Saints”. He’s confident they’ll go all the way and capture the East Africa Championship this year. He is urging everyone in the region to come together and support the team.

St. Mary’s High School, Yala is making a comeback to the national stage, presenting Handball, Basketball, and Rugby 15s teams after a decade-long absence. According to head coach Lee, the teams have worked hard and are expecting to go further this year.
With tight fixtures, the school is confident of bringing home the championship title. Below is the fixtures;
