The Kisumu Central NG-CDF fund has set aside a total of Ksh64 Million in the current financial year towards the support of education of needy students within the area.

Area Member of Parliament (MP) Joshua Oron said Ksh 44 million will go towards the education of students in secondary and senior schools while the rest will be distributed to other sectors.

Speaking during the ongoing verification of records of the students in question in all the sub counties within the constituency MP Oron said the remaining chunk of the amount will go towards the education of students in universities and tertiary institutions as others go towards training of drivers of motor bikes and vehicles.

The legislator added that those who have the desired skills but do not have the requisite papers will also be facilitated to secure the recognition of prior learning certificate after assessments.

Oron slammed those advocating for the stoppage of NGCDF fund and its subsequent consolidation into a single fund for the purposes of free universal education, adding that the funds must be enhanced given the increasing demand for fees.

He alluded that even students from the area who are in schools outside the constituency will be assisted asserting that no needy students will be left out of the scheme.
