Parents and students were yesterday thrown into celebration after Bobasi Member of Parliament (MP) Innocent Obiri officially opened Mochengo Comprehensive School to use, bringing to an end five years wait, after the school’s construction ended on Monday, April 27, 2026.
Speaking during the opening ceremony, MP Obiri said the project marks a major milestone in education development in the area.
The legislator commended the contractor for his good workmanship on the project and urged other contractors to emulate the example. He noted that quality work ensures value for public funds and lasting benefits to the community.

The legislator said the model building will serve as a benchmark for other schools that will be constructed across the constituency. He emphasized the importance of adequate and well-equipped infrastructure for education development.
He added that good infrastructure like modern classrooms, proper desks, and sanitation facilities are key to improving education standards. “Learners cannot perform well in dilapidated structures. We must invest in facilities that motivate both teachers and pupils,” he stated.

Residents of Nyacheki ward asked the MP to ensure the institution achieves good performance in examination results and sustainability by helping them get enough qualified teachers. They promised to support his leadership.
“Qualified teachers are vital because they deliver the curriculum effectively, identify and nurture learners’ talents, and improve academic outcomes. Their professional skills also enhance discipline, mentorship, and proper use of learning resources, which raises overall education standards and sustains school performance,” said John Ogega, a former pupil of the school.
