Officials from the Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) and the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) in Bomet on Monday marched over what they termed as illegal transfer of teachers by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
The group of 10 union officials marched to the Bomet TSC offices to demand the immediate revocation of the transfers, which they claimed were irregular and unfairly targeted some teachers.
Led by KUPPET Executive Secretary Paul Kimeto and his KNUT counterpart Desmond Langat, the officials argued that the transfers had initially been presented as normal swaps between teachers but ended up affecting other staff who were not part of the arrangements.
They alleged that the transfers were engineered by some Heads of Institutions (HOIs) who disagreed with certain teachers, leading to what they described as victimisation and disruption of learning in affected schools.
The officials held a meeting with Bomet TSC County Director Daniel Kioko to address the matter and push for a resolution.
They expressed hope that the Teachers Service Commission will issue clear directions on the matter and reverse the contested transfers by Tuesday.

The march remained peaceful, with the officials maintaining that their action was aimed at protecting teachers’ rights and ensuring fairness in staff deployment across schools in the county.
