Giasobera Secondary School in South Mugirango Constituency has received an initial Ksh 5.2 million from NG-CDF for the construction of storeyed classrooms to ease congestion among learners.
Speaking at the school during the groundbreaking ceremony, area MP Sylvanus Osoro, who was accompanied by NG-CDF Chairlady Triza Otieno, said his Constituency Development Committee has prioritised education projects because education is the cornerstone of progress. The MP elaborated on the benefits of quality education to the community, noting that it increases job opportunities by producing skilled people.
Education stretches further than providing employment. Educated individuals are more likely to secure stable incomes, invest wisely, and uplift their families out of poverty. As more households improve their living standards, the entire community benefits through increased trade, better housing, and higher demand for local services.
Education also improves health outcomes. Learners gain knowledge on nutrition, hygiene, family planning, and disease prevention, which helps reduce infant mortality and the spread of preventable illnesses. Communities with higher literacy rates tend to make better health decisions and demand quality health services from leaders.
“An educated population is the foundation of strong civic participation and good governance. That is how we reduce corruption, promote accountability, and make sure development projects truly serve the community,” Osoro said.
The MP, who is also the Parliamentary Chief Whip, promised to improve infrastructure in both primary and secondary schools in the constituency because schools promote social cohesion, peace, and innovation. Through shared learning, students develop tolerance, respect, and a sense of common purpose, which reduces ignorance and conflict within the community. At the same time, schools equip youth with problem-solving skills and creativity, creating a generation capable of starting businesses, adopting new farming methods, and solving local challenges. This generates employment and keeps wealth circulating within the area.

The legislator emphasised the importance of education in advancing gender equality and environmental stewardship. When girls and boys learn equally, women gain the confidence to take up leadership and economic roles. At the same time, educated communities are more aware of sustainable farming, conservation, and climate change, leading to better management of natural resources for future generations.
The MP said he was impressed with the beneficiaries of Osoro Care Club and urged them to work hard in school to realise their educational goals.
Osoro urged parents and learners to safeguard the new facilities once completed, saying the investment would only yield returns if students committed to learning and teachers delivered quality instruction.
