Kisii County celebrates champions as schools book regional slots at KSSSA Gamess

The Kisii County Government has congratulated schools that emerged victorious during the 2026 Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) Kisii County Games, describing their achievements as a reflection of the county’s growing sporting excellence.

In a message posted on its official Facebook page, the county government hailed the student-athletes for their outstanding performances, noting that they had not only competed for county honours but also earned the opportunity to represent Kisii at the regional championships.

“Our hearts are full of pride! The Kisii County Government joins the entire community in celebrating our incredible student-athletes who dominated the fields and courts during the KSSSA Kisii County Games 2026,” the county government stated.

The county said the success demonstrated the dedication, discipline and talent of young athletes, as well as the importance of investing in sports development at the grassroots level.

Schools that secured regional qualification

Schools that secured county titles and regional qualification include Mobamba High School, which won the boys’ volleyball and girls’ football titles, Moteiribe Secondary School in girls’ volleyball, Nyabisase Mixed Secondary School in girls’ basketball and Kisii High School in boys’ basketball.

Other champions were St. Peter’s Keberesi in girls’ netball, Cardinal Otunga Mosocho in boys’ rugby, Nyagencheche Secondary School in girls’ rugby and Sameta High School in boys’ football.

Coaches and teachers recognised

The county government also commended coaches, teachers and support staff for nurturing the athletes and helping them excel in their respective disciplines.

“To all the winners, participants and coaching staff: You have done Kisii County proud. Go forth and conquer the regions! The County Government is fully behind you,” the statement added.

The regional championships will provide the county champions with an opportunity to compete against top schools from neighbouring counties as they seek qualification for the national championships.

Education and sports stakeholders have expressed confidence that the county representatives will continue their impressive performances and raise Kisii’s profile on the regional and national stage.
