Newly elected national second assistant gender secretary of the Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET), Lawrence Kiragu, has expressed gratitude to teachers across the country for entrusting him with the leadership role.
In his first message following his election on Saturday at Kasarani Indoor Arena, Kiragu said he was deeply honoured and humbled by the confidence members had shown in him.
“This victory would not have been possible without your trust, support and votes. Thank you for believing in me and allowing me to serve you,” he said.
Kiragu pledged to serve with dedication, passion and integrity, promising bold and visionary leadership in advancing gender matters within the union.
He emphasised the need for unity and collective effort to ensure meaningful progress for teachers.
The national second assistant gender secretary is tasked with supporting gender mainstreaming initiatives within KUPPET, promoting equity and advocating for inclusive policies that benefit all members.
Kiragu’s supporters described his election as a step toward strengthening gender representation and enhancing teacher welfare within the union.

He called on members to remain united as he begins his term, affirming his commitment to working collaboratively with the national leadership to deliver on his mandate.
