Keasha Mtawali, a Grade 2 pupil at Genius Academy School in Mtwapa, Kilifi County, is a top contender in the World Model Contest, a global competition for children that focuses on modelling and presentation skills.

According to her father, Michael Mtawali, the contest is a platform for young children to showcase their confidence, teamwork, and stage presence. The competition also involves showcasing cultural elements and raising awareness about the emotional validation of children.

Children participating in the contest go through a four-step process. In the first step, participants who receive at least 10 votes automatically qualify for the national phase. In the national phase, they will compete with candidates from other countries who have also exceeded 10 votes.

Keasha, who is six years old, will now represent Kenya in the upcoming finals on August 5th. The finals will be conducted through online voting, where Keasha will compete with finalists from various countries. The contest is based in Venezuela.

Competitions like this help children learn to communicate effectively, build rapport, and work collaboratively, which are crucial life skills. The winners and finalists will receive prizes such as shopping sprees, magazine features, or the opportunity to join a modeling agency.

Mtawali noted that while role models have a great impact on children, having a mentor in their lives is even more important. He expressed his desire for his daughter to become famous.
