Kenya Railways has announced additional Madaraka Express Passenger Service trips on Friday, November 14 2025, and Saturday, November 15, 2025, to accommodate a sharp increase in passenger traffic along the busy Mombasa–Nairobi corridor.

In a notice to travellers, the corporation said the decision was prompted by heightened demand expected during the mid-November period, traditionally one of the busiest travel windows as domestic tourism peaks and long-distance commuters take advantage of the approaching festive season.

Under the revised schedule, an additional train will run on Friday, departing Mombasa at 09:45 hrs, stopping at Voi, and arriving in Nairobi at 15:48 hrs. On Saturday, a return service will depart Nairobi at 09:45 hrs, stop at Voi, and arrive in Mombasa at 15:36 hrs.

Kenya Railways encouraged passengers to secure their seats early through the official booking platforms — www.metickets.co.ke, the mobile code *639#, or by visiting any SGR station nationwide. The corporation also reminded travellers to use only verified channels to curb incidents of fraud linked to unofficial ticket vendors.

The Madaraka Express, launched in 2017, has grown into one of the country’s most relied-upon transport services, offering fast, safe, and affordable travel between Kenya’s two largest cities.

Peak-season demand has repeatedly pushed the service to full capacity, prompting periodic deployment of additional trains such as the ones announced for November.

Kenya Railways noted that it remains committed to providing timely, efficient, and customer-focused services, adding that more adjustments will be made in line with passenger needs.
