Keep politics out of schools, Education Director tells politicians

Rongo Sub-county Director of Education has urged politicians to keep politics out of learning institutions in his area of jurisdiction.

Duncan Odhiambo, the area Education Director farther advised politicians to avoid utterances that could send negative signals among learners and the public at large.

The director called on political opponents to promote peace and solicit votes in a peacefully manner.

Odhiambo who was speaking during a prize giving day at Rongo Primary School impressed upon the politicians who were present to avoid intoxicating the youth to extends of throwing stones at opponents.

Migori Senator, Ochillo Ayacko who was also present called on parents to support education by supplementing the government efforts as education is the cornerstone in any society.

Former Rongo Member of Parliament Dalmas Otieno promised to prioritize education and improve schools in the entire county if elected Migori Governor in the scheduled August 9 elections.

He outlined a number of projects he has helped initiate while serving as Rongo MP and Cabinet Minister in previous regimes.

Earlier Police in Rongo quelled tension which was high ahead of the function as contenders of Migori County top positions graced the occasion.

The leading contender’s supporters thronged the venue as early as 7 am and word went round that some goons were being ferried to cause mayhem.
