- KASNEB will pilot Computer-Based Examination (CBE) for CIFA Foundation Level starting August 2026; the syllabus and assessment standards remain unchanged, only the mode of administration shifts from paper to computer.
- Candidates have been urged to complete mandatory virtual CBE orientation and training sessions beforehand to familiarise themselves with the platform
Thousands of students pursuing the Certified Investment and Financial Analysts (CIFA) qualification will sit their Foundation Level papers on computers for the first time from the August 2026 examination sitting, the Kenya Accountants and Secretaries National Examinations Board (KASNEB) has announced.
The Board said Professional Ethics and Governance, Regulation of Financial Markets, and Introduction to Finance and Investments will be piloted on the Computer Based Examination (CBE) platform, marking the qualification’s exit from purely paper-based testing.
KASNEB said the CIFA Intermediate and Advanced Level papers will move to the CBE platform in phases during future sittings, with students and other stakeholders notified ahead of each transition.
The examining body clarified that the current syllabus, examination structure and standard of assessment for the affected papers will remain unchanged, with only the mode of administration shifting from paper to computer.

Candidates will undergo mandatory virtual CBE orientation and training sessions before the examinations to familiarize them with the platform and prepare them to complete their papers seamlessly.
The computer-based tests will still be administered at designated examination centres in line with the approved examination timetable, and candidates will be required to bring their own laptops to sit the exams.
KASNEB urged students to participate actively in the training sessions and familiarise themselves with the platform well ahead of the examinations.
