Karumo Technical Training Institute in Tigania West-Meru County has been ranked the best performing Tertiary Institution in the just released performance contracting report released yesterday by President Dr. William Ruto.
Karumo came first with a composite score of 2.2775 and was followed closely by Sigalagala National Polytechnic in Kakamega County with a composite score of 2.3628; while Katine Technical Training Institute in Matungulu, Machakos County and Michuki Technical Training Institute came positions three and four, with a composite score of 2.4563 and 2.6335 respectively.
At position five was Kenya School of TVET formerly Kenya Technical Trainers College with a composite score of 2.6793, Kiirua Technical Training Institute came at position six with a score of 2.6888, the Nyeri National Polytechnic took position seven with a score of 2.7397.

Meru National Polytechnic, Runyenjes Technical and Vocational College and the Kitale National Polytechnic were at positions eight, nine and ten with composite scores of 2.7398, 2.7400 and 2.7742 respectively.
Out of the Top Ten Performing Tertiary Institutions, five (5) were Technical Training Institutes (TTIs) while five (5) were National Polytechnics (NP).
The report shows that the analysis of the performance of the Tertiary Institutions indicates that there was a marginal decline in performance during the 2021/2022 Financial Year (FY) compared to the FY 2020/2021 since the average composite score changed from 3.2609 to 3.2857.
According to the report, the bottom ten performing tertiary institutions were Kipsinende Technical Training Institute (3.8454), Kaloleni Technical and Vocational College (3.8699), Tinderet Technical and Vocational College (3.9020), Webuye West Technical and Vocational College (3.9263).
Taveta Technical and Vocational College (3.9336), Dr. Daniel Wako Murende Technical and Vocational College (3.9579), Mumias West Technical and Vocational College (3.9617), Laikipia North Technical and Vocational College (3.9860), Borabu Technical and Vocational College (4.0674) and Baringo South Technical Training Institute (4.3296).
