Kakrao Technical and Vocational College (TVC) has emerged as Kenya’s top digitally fit technical training institution at the prestigious KE Online Digitally Fit Awards 2025. The awards, held on October 3 under the Business of the Year – Kenya Edition, celebrated institutions and organisations that have excelled in leveraging digital tools to create meaningful online engagement and visibility.

The recognition marked a major milestone for Kakrao TVC, a rural-based college in Migori County that has set itself apart through consistent digital innovation and communication. The institution’s strong online presence, showcased through social media updates on its training activities, innovations, and success stories, earned it the top honour in the Technical Training category.

The college’s Principal, Felix Barclays Odhiambo, received the award on behalf of the institution and later presented it to the State Department for TVET through the Principal Secretary, Dr. Esther Muoria. In her remarks, PS Muoria praised Kakrao TVC for being a symbol of transformation within the TVET sector, noting that the college has effectively used social media to share its achievements and inspire learning beyond its physical boundaries.

The Digitally Fit Awards, organised by KE Online, are designed to honour institutions, businesses and individuals who have demonstrated excellence in online branding, digital engagement and content visibility. The awards evaluate nominees based on digital influence, consistency, and the impact of their online presence. For Kakrao TVC, this recognition reflects years of commitment to integrating technology into education, not only for training delivery but also for communication and institutional growth.

As the national winner in its category, Kakrao TVC now carries Kenya’s flag to the East African Digitally Fit Awards scheduled for December 5, 2025 in Uganda. The regional edition will bring together top performers from across East Africa, providing a platform for collaboration and sharing of best practices in digital innovation within education and other sectors.

Among them were Millennium Global International School and Herald International School, both celebrated for their strong online branding and continued digital excellence in the International Schools category. Their wins, alongside Kakrao TVC’s, underscored the growing importance of digital visibility as a key measure of institutional performance and credibility.

As the countdown begins for the East African Awards in December, Kakrao TVC stands as a proud representative of Kenya’s TVET sector and a model for how educational institutions can harness digital platforms to achieve excellence and recognition on the regional stage.
