Kajiado leaders led by Kajiado South Member of Parliament Katoo ole Metito have said that while they don’t oppose transfer of school heads, the Teachers Service Commission should do it humanely and within the counties.
Metito, in the company of Woman Representative Janet Teyiaa and several MCAs, spoke in Imbirrikani Ward of Kajiado South constituency on recently when they attended the home-coming party for nominated MCA Faith Mukenka.
Kajiado South MPsaid he is seeing a looming disappointment of teachers by TSC if it does not handle the process with a human heart.
“Can you imagine a situation where about 70 per cent of head teachers from Kajiado South Sub County, who are about to retire, being transferred to TaitaTaveta, and their wives who are also teachers are transferred to Tharaka Nithi?” posed the MP.
“We are in government to support all its programmes as Jubilee MPs, but on this one I will say no because I cannot stand by and watch lives being ruined in the name of re-alignment of services,” he said.
On her part, Teyiaa also, appealed Kenya National Union of Teachers to protect their lot against dehumanization practices.
She, particularly called upon Wilson Sossion, who is an ODM nominated MP, to fight for the right of teachers and their spouses in the same profession.
“We have KNUT and Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers representatives in Parliament who are in the House Education Committee. They should come out and defend their folk,” said the MP.
