Jubilation as West Pokot school receives new 52 seater bus

It was a joyous occasion at Lomut Day and Boarding  School in West Pokot county as they received a new 52 seater Isuzu bus worth Ksh6 million courtesy of Sigor Constituency Development Fund.

Speaking while issuing the bus to the institution, Sigor MP Peter Lochakapong asked the school and community at large to utilize the bus for academic symposia so as to improve the school’s performance.

Under the tutelage of the head teacher Nicholas Moyo, the school has consistently been registering a mean of over 300 in KCPE exams.

Lochakapong observed that schools in Arid and Semi-Arid areas have diverse infrastructural challenges like lack of enough classrooms, a situation that has forced students to study under trees.

“It’s my commitment to ensure such challenges are conclusively addressed,” he noted, further revealing that the national assembly will soon pass a legislation that ensures marginalized communities are well funded to bridge the gap between them and developed counties.

Area Sub-County Director of Education Barnabas Kongwalei thanked the MP for his continuous patronage to schools and assured him of good performance.

The parents present thanked the government for fighting banditry and promised their continued support when need arises.
