Itigo Girls Senior School is preparing to host a major inter-school tournament that promises to turn Nandi County into a hub of youth sporting excellence on May 9th and 10th at their school playground.
In an official invitation, the school announced an open tournament that will bring together teams from across the region to compete in a wide range of disciplines.
Unlike many single-sport school events, the Itigo tournament stands out for its diversity, featuring volleyball, netball, football, basketball (3×3), rugby 7s and indoor games including badminton, lawn tennis, and table tennis.
The event is expected to attract both boys’ and girls’ teams, reflecting a deliberate effort to promote inclusivity and equal participation in sports.
However, organizers clarified that football for boys will strictly feature junior and senior school teams, ensuring structured competition within age categories.
According to the organizers, matches will kick off at 9:00 a.m. on both days, with trophies and certificates set to be awarded to the top three teams in each category.
The registration fee has been set at Ksh 2,000 for secondary schools, tertiary institutions, and self-sponsored teams, Ksh 1,500 for junior and primary schools, and Ksh 1,000 for indoor games participants.

The region, known for producing world-class athletes, is expected to provide the perfect backdrop for the event, with schools’ eager to showcase their prowess across multiple sporting disciplines.
