Homa Bay sets aside money for ECDE feeding programme

Mrs May Arati shares goodies with children when they were hosted by Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga.

Homa Bay County Governor Gladys Wanga has said her county has set aside money to start and sustain  a feeding programme for children in Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE).

The governor said that a balanced diet is essential in the brain development of a child and asked all residents to support the programme when it kicks off.

She said her government has identified some schools that will host model ECDE classrooms that will cost Ksh2 million.

“We want to strengthen the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) in stabilizing its foundation by providing modern classrooms for our growing children,” she said.

She lauded the MCAs for embracing the idea and promised undeterred support from her government.

The governor was addressing the public at her Homabay office when she hosted more than 100 children from underprivileged homes as a Christmas gesture.

She was flanked by wife of Kisii County Governor May Kwamboka Arati, who lauded the role played by mothers as the first educators of children.

“We must build a hopeful future by investing more in our children through providing them with quality education,” she said.
