Governor advises youth to go for technical skills

Young people must bet on technical skills with the aim of creating jobs, Garissa County Deputy Governor, Abdi Dagane has advised.
Speaking to the press in Garissa town, Dagane said that negative attitude amongst youth against technical jobs has prevented them from going for such courses.
The deputy Governor said the county was focusing more on youth attaining technical skills.
He added that the Government has heavily invested on the Garissa Vocational Training Institute which offers free courses to local youths.
Dagane was speaking during an enrolment drive for vocational training which was implemented by Garissa county government, Agha Khan Foundation and funded by the European Union.
The county executive committee in charge of education Habiba Nasib said it would be disastrous that technical institution have very low enrolment despite the county sponsoring the courses.
