Kaimosi Friends National Polytechnic has entered a new chapter of leadership following the official appointment of Gilbert Mwavali as Chief Principal. His assumption of office marks a significant transition for the institution, which continues to play a central role in advancing technical and vocational education in Kenya.
Mwavali succeeds Dr. Okumu J.W. Odhiambo, who has been deployed to The Kisumu National Polytechnic after serving at Kaimosi for 35 months. The handover ceremony was presided over by officials from the State Department for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and witnessed by members of the Governing Council and Management Board, ensuring a seamless transfer of responsibilities.
In its statement, the institution praised Dr. Odhiambo for his transformative leadership and strategic vision, noting that his tenure strengthened institutional growth and positioned the Polytechnic as a key player in skills development. The management wished him success in his new assignment at Kisumu National Polytechnic, acknowledging his contribution to the advancement of TVET in the country.
At the same time, the Polytechnic welcomed Mwavali, expressing confidence that his leadership will build on past achievements while accelerating the drive towards academic excellence, innovation, and enhanced service delivery. Stakeholders believe his appointment will further strengthen governance structures and expand access to quality training opportunities for learners.
