Emukangu KAG Primary School, in Lurambi Constituency, Kakamega County, has undergone a remarkable infrastructural transformation, evolving from mud-walled classrooms to modern storey buildings funded through the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF).
Learners at the school received a major boost after area Member of Parliament (MP)Titus Khamala officially handed over the newly constructed classrooms built using funds from the Lurambi NG-CDF allocation.

The commissioning ceremony was attended by members of the National Assembly Committee on NG-CDF, led by chairperson Musa Sirma, who praised the effective utilisation of the fund by the constituency leadership.
“Today we have witnessed impressive work done through the NG-CDF. This is a miracle. Despite the limited land size, a lot has been achieved and learners will now study in a conducive environment. This clearly demonstrates the impact of the NG-CDF in improving lives,” said Sirma.
According to Khamala, the project was completed using an allocation of Ksh21 million, covering both the construction of the storey building and the furnishing of classrooms with desks.

“This is a miracle. We have accomplished all this with an allocation of Ksh21 million. All classrooms are fully equipped with desks and learners will begin using the facility immediately. The school sits on only half an acre, and what we now require is a playing field for the learners,” said Khamala.
The MP also commended the contractor for delivering quality work despite the heavy rains experienced in the region.

“A very good job was done. Even with the heavy rains, we have not experienced any leaks. The ceilings remain intact and everything is in good condition,” he added.
School headteacher Maurice Omulisia said the institution currently has 650 learners and expects enrolment to increase following the infrastructural upgrade.
“We expect more learners to join us and benefit from this conducive learning environment. We are truly grateful to our MP. This is a significant improvement from the mud-walled classrooms we previously had, and we anticipate better academic performance going forward,” said Omulisia during the handover ceremony.

The school’s transformation has renewed hope among learners, teachers and parents, ushering in a new era of improved education standards and dignity for the institution.
For years, pupils studied in dilapidated mud-walled classrooms that offered little protection from rain, dust and cold weather. The completion of the modern classrooms now marks a significant shift in the learning environment.
The NG-CDF committee also toured projects in Mumias East Constituency, where members inspected a fully equipped ICT hub and the KMTC Shianda Mumias Campus, both funded through NG-CDF.
In Ikolomani Constituency, the committee inspected several primary schools where NG-CDF funds have been used to construct storey tuition and administration blocks.
