Investigations are ongoing at Kegati Secondary School in Nyaribari Chache; Kisii County after a dormitory was razed down by fire.
The incident occurred during the night, hours after students came back from their short second term holiday break.
Francis Kooli, Kisii County Police commander reported that the incident began at midnight when the school watchman noticed flames emitting from the dormitory.
“The watchman raised alarm for help from neighbours to quell the fire but it was too late to handle the situation,” he added.
According to the police chief, when his officers arrived at the scene they found that the villagers and fire fighters had put down the fire.
“The exact value of the the things destroyed by the fire is yet to be established,” the police chief said.
The dormitory housed over 77 students who are still at a loss on the next course of action.
