Father to top KCPE candidate speaks

The father of 2020 KCPE top candidate Faith Kawee Mumo has opened up on difficult moments his family had to endure after his lost his job due to Covid-19 pandemic.

Paul Mumo who hails from Malaa Village in Machakos County and an accountant said he has been struggling to provide for the need of his family, and specifically that of his daughter who beat odds to emerge the top, after being rendered jobless since March last year.

Covid-19 was recorded in March last year leading to lockdown and curfew being imposed countrywide.

Mumo’s father was among the affected leading to his family moving from Nairobi to their rural home in Kagundo.

He was forced to relocate from Kayole junction in Nairobi to his home in Malaa Machakos County where he grew vegetables and other farm produce for commercial purposes to get fees for his daughter.

He said the good performance posted by her daughter in KCPE examination is an encouragement that will see an increase on girls going to school.

Mumo describes his daughter as;” very prayerful girl, Very confident and very hardworking.”

She aspires to be neurosurgeon after her high school education

Faith was a student of Karia-Mwailu Primary School.
