A family from Shikondi village in Ikolomani Constituency, Kakamega County wants justice following what they termed as defilement of their daughter who sat for KCPE this year.

The girl who is reportedly two months expectant is said to have been sexually assaulted by a police officer stationed at Ikolomani police post.

According to the girl whose parents said she passed well in the just past KCPE examinations, the officer lured her into his house in the station after she sold some Bananas to him.

“I had been sent to sell Bananas at the nearby market and when the officer after buying some Bananas from me requested to send me to the market, but before that he asked me into his house. To my surprise he closed the door and forced me into his bed, I was so terrified, he overpowered me and defiled me.” The girl whose name has been banned stated

The girl was supposed to join form one when schools open, something that has infuriated his parents and the community at large.

His Father who has since reported the matter at the Sub county police station in Malinya claims he has not been accorded the deserved help by the OCPD.

“After we noticed the change in behavior of our daughter we suspected that she was pregnant and we decided to take her for a pregnancy test in a nearby dispensary where the results showed positive.

When we asked her who was responsible she said it was the police officer by mentioning his name. I went to see the OCPD but I haven’t got satisfactory help from the police station. Because they are telling me to wait until the girl gives birth then we can do the DNA.” Explained, the unhappy Father.

Ikolomani MP Benard Shinali has called upon the government to act swiftly and treat the matter with the seriousness it deserves in order to give justice to the aggrieved family.

“We are calling upon the education CS Prof. George Magoha and the inspector General Hillary Mutiambai to take this issue personally and make sure the culprit is nabbed because he is also issuing threats to the family in question. We shall not stop at anything until we see justice having been done to this family.” The legislator stated

The area OCPD William Sadig while confirming the incident said that investigations have been launched into the matter and that necessary action will be taken against the officer if found culpable.
