A family in Kiong’anyo village in Kisii County is agonizing following the disappearance of their form one girl who has been missing since the time schools opened in early January.
According to a family member the girl known as Slivia Nyaboke Amenya left home heading to school when they opened early this year but she did not reach school.
Mr. Daniel Amenya the girls’ Brother, who spoke at Marani Sub-County Deputy Commissioner’s office, said Nyaboke was allegedly seen in the company of her friend who is in four on the day she was returning to school.
“We are appealing to the government, well-wishers and anyone who might be having information that may lead to my sister’s whereabouts to volunteer it to us or report the matter to any nearby police station for assistance.” He pleaded.
Commenting on the incident, Maran Sub-county Deputy Commissioner Mr. Patrick Mulira decried the high rate of negligence among parents that has led to many children’s waywardness.
The administrator wondered why parents could not accompany their children while going back to school.
Mr. Mulira asked school head teachers and Principals from the area to form WhatsApp groups on which information would be shared in case of such incidents.
“The world is changing rapidly and people should embrace modern technology for effective communication and urgent conveyance of information,” he said.
