The outgoing Teacher Service Commission (TSC) Secretary, Dr Nancy Njeri Macharia, will head the Murang’a County Public Service Board after approval by the county assembly.
Macharia and her co-nominees, appointed by Murang’a Governor Irungu Kang’ata, will face the County Assembly on Friday for vetting.
The nominees will be members of the board: Dr Louis Mwende Mwikali, Dr Brian Makamu, Johnson Kang’ethe and Oscar Kimani.

Kimani will be the secretary to the board, pending approval by the county assembly.
“The assembly on June 10 received notification that the governor has nominated the chairperson, members and secretary to the Murang’a County Public Service Board,” read the communication.
Macharia’s nomination has sparked protests from the youth led by Joseph Kibugi, who question the governor’s reasons behind awarding Macharia the position.
Kibugi says the position ought to have been served for a youth, arguing it was abnormal to nominate a person who was retiring.
“The recycling of leaders remains the major impediment to unemployment affecting the youth,” said Kibugi.
