Jane Muthoni, the former Principal at Icaciri Girls Secondary School, has been sentenced to a 30-year jail term after she was found guilty of killing her husband Solomon Mwangi, who was also a Principal at Kiiru Boys High School.
Together with her accomplice, Isaac Ng’ang’a, alias Gikuyu will both serve the sentence which will be backdated to 2016 when they were arrested.
Earlier, the state had called for the death sentence for Muthoni who orchestrated the murder of her husband, but state Counsel Catherine Mwaniki and Mbuthi’s family lawyer, Mathenge Wokabi urged Justice Joel Ngugi to consider employing the maximum sentence for the matter considering the circumstances of the murder.
