The European Union Delegation to Kenya and the Equity Group Foundation have entered into a partnership aimed at expanding access to quality education, strengthening human capital development and widening global learning opportunities for high-achieving students in Kenya and across the region.
The agreement was signed by European Union Ambassador to Kenya Henriette Geiger and Equity Group Foundation Executive Chairman Dr. James Mwangi in the presence of Principal Secretary for Higher Education and Research Dr. Beatrice Inyangala and Principal Secretary for Science, Research and Innovation Prof. Shaukat Abdulrazak.
Expanding Access to Global Education
The cooperation agreement formalises a shared commitment to expanding access to quality education, nurturing talent and connecting young Kenyans to transformative learning pathways both within Kenya and across Europe.
Under the programme, up to 100 Equity scholars annually will be supported to pursue master’s degree studies at European universities, creating a structured pathway for talented young Africans to access world-class education, research opportunities and international exposure.
“The Equity Group Foundation, through its Wings to Fly and Equity Leaders Program, is an ideal partner for us, with our shared objective of promoting access to quality education, holistic development and intercultural exchanges as a key driver of growth and human capital development,” said Ambassador Geiger.
Government Welcomes Initiative
Principal Secretary Dr. Beatrice Inyangala welcomed the partnership, saying collaborations between Kenyan institutions and global education partners continue to expand opportunities for students, researchers and academics.
“Partnerships such as this create invaluable opportunities for our students, researchers and academics to access world-class education, advanced research and international exposure,” she said.
To date, more than 1,200 scholars from Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo have secured fully funded admission to leading global universities.

The partnership further strengthens Kenya’s participation in Erasmus+, the European Union’s flagship programme supporting education, training, youth and sport.
