Parents have been asked to encourage their children to aspire in acquiring higher and quality education to enable them fit in the ever competitive job market in the country.
Addressing the public at Kebere Primary School in Gucha Sub-county, Deputy Commissioner Emmanuel Mwacharo asked parents to be close to their children while selecting university courses.
The Commissioner cited Mr. Geofrey Abuga, former area chief who was promoted to Assistant County Commissioner because of upgrading his education, saying that the government will continue promoting officers from all sectors on merit basis.
On his part, Mr. Abuga thanked the government for the good gesture for the people of Gucha Sub-county. He said that his priority in the new position will be the promotion of education.
The 42 year-old Geoffrery Abuga went to Kebere Primary School for his early education before proceeding to Cardinal Otunga Mosocho High School. He went ahead to Kisii University for his Bachelor of Arts course in which he later did his Postgraduate Diploma in Education from the same institution.
He taught in several secondary schools under Board of Management before he was appointed location chief seven years ago.
