A 400 student capacity twin dormitory at Maranda High School in Bondo Sub-county was last night razed down following a mysterious fire outbreak.
Students were coming from their evening studies at 10.00 pm when they discovered the fire at the twin dormitory christened Ogango which houses Form 4 students.
According to Bondo Sub-county Police Commander Mrs. Roseline Chebosho upon getting information about the fire outbreak, they rushed to the scene and called the fire brigade who came from Siaya to put out the fire to prevent it from spreading to the adjacent dormitories.
However, by the time the fire fighters arrived, property had already been damaged in the twin dormitory as nothing was salvaged due to the huge fire which had engulfed the building.
While confirming the incident, Mrs. Chebosho stated that no casualties or injuries were recorded since the fire broke out when the students were still in their classrooms.
She added that sub-county Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has already picked the matter and investigations were ongoing to ascertain what caused the fire.
