Constituency partners with HELB to offer student loans

Kilifi North MP Owen Baya has revealed that the area Constituency Development Fund has partnered with the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) to sponsor university students from the region to continue with their education every year.
Speaking in his office while issuing two cheques for Sh75,000 to Pwani University and the Kenya Medical Training College, Kilifi Campus, Baya said his office had agreed with HELB that CDF would be setting aside Sh3 million annually while HELB would top up Sh1 million.
The legislator said at the end of the five years of sponsorship from HELB and CDF more than 1,300 university students from Kilifi North would benefit.
According to reports the HELB fiscal estimates for 2017/2018 Financial Year is Sh20 billion to address the expected number of students undertaking Certificate, Diploma and Degree courses at middle level colleges and universities.
