Chepalungu schools get facelift as MP Koech rolls out new classrooms and KSh60 million bursary fund

Efforts to improve education standards in Chepalungu Constituency have received a major boost following the construction of modern classrooms aimed at replacing temporary and aging school structures.

The projects, funded through the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF), include four permanent classrooms at Kimaya Comprehensive School and three classrooms at Kamotyo Primary School.

Area Member of Parliament Victor Koech said infrastructure development remains a key pillar of the constituency’s education agenda.

“Quality education requires a conducive learning environment. We are investing in modern facilities to ensure our learners study in safe, comfortable and well-equipped classrooms,” said Koech.

The legislator reaffirmed his commitment to improving education standards through strategic investments in infrastructure, governance and learner mentorship programmes.

Improved learning conditions

According to education officials, the new classrooms have eased congestion, improved safety and enhanced the overall learning experience for both learners and teachers.

“We have witnessed remarkable improvements since these projects were completed. Learners now have better facilities, which motivates them and supports effective teaching and learning,” said an education stakeholder.

Complementing bursary programmes

The infrastructure projects complement ongoing bursary programmes that have seen KSh60 million allocated to support students in secondary schools, technical institutions, universities and colleges.

Education stakeholders expressed satisfaction with the progress made and pledged continued support for programmes aimed at strengthening education in the constituency.

“The combination of bursary support and infrastructure development is transforming education in Chepalungu. We are committed to working together to ensure our children receive quality education,” said a stakeholder.

Residents expressed optimism that continued investment in education would lead to improved academic performance and greater opportunities for young people across the constituency.
