The Competency Based Curiculumn (CBC) needs to be reviewed so as Kenya can achieve a robust Education sector with more competent and High quality professionals in the near future.
This is according to the legislator of Bumula Constituency in Bungoma County, Hon. Moses Mwambu Mabonga.
While addressing the press in Bungoma town after meeting teachers drawn from Kimaeti Sub-county, Mwambu said that currently as it is constituted, the CBC programme implementation is proving to be a big challenge to parents due to its expensive requirements and especially when Kenyans are currently struggling financially.
The MP Noted that the Education Cabinet Secretary Prof George. Magoha should consider doing a fresh review of CBC initiative by engaging a national dialogue, cum stakeholders consultation forums so as to make necessary changes to the programme in order to reduce the cost of educating learners.
He reiterated his commitment in investing more in the education sector through the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF) by assisting more needy students to get bursaries and scholarships.
