Bunyore Girls Senior School has emerged the winner in Class 2019K – I Wish at the 2026 Kenya National Music Festival held at Kibabii University in Bungoma County.
The school’s performance earned acclaim for its interpretation of the set poem, with learners demonstrating creativity, confidence and strong stage presence.
Bunyore Girls Chief Principal Judith Agade said the performances at the festival provided a platform for learners to explore the poem’s themes of aspirations, wishes and personal reflection.
“I was treated to varied and captivating interpretations of the poem, each bringing its wishes, aspirations and underlying message vividly to life,” Agade said.
She said the performances demonstrated the capacity of creative arts to foster critical reflection and self-expression among learners.
Creativity takes centre stage
Agade described the festival experience as rewarding, noting that the poem had inspired diverse artistic interpretations from participating schools.
“To witness I Wish inspire such creativity, reflection and expression on the festival stage was truly a rewarding moment,” she said.
She congratulated Bunyore Girls for securing the top position and commended other participating schools for their distinctive interpretations of the set poem.
The victory adds to Bunyore Girls Senior School’s growing record in co-curricular activities, as institutions increasingly use music and performing arts to identify and nurture talent among learners.
