Bungoma High School has announced the launch of its 2026 rugby talent scouting programme, inviting promising young players from across the region to attend trials scheduled later this month.

In a statement, the school said the initiative is aimed at identifying and recruiting skilled athletes to strengthen its rugby squad, “The Bulls,” as it prepares for upcoming competitions.

The institution, widely regarded for its strong performance in both academics and sports, is seeking players who exhibit technical ability, physical fitness, discipline and strong character.

The administration noted that the programme will also prioritise learners facing financial challenges, reaffirming its commitment to supporting talented students who may be unable to access opportunities due to economic constraints.

Officials said the trials will provide successful candidates with access to structured rugby training alongside academic development within the school.

The two-day evaluation exercise is set to take place on April 23 and 24, 2026, beginning at 10:00 a.m. on the school grounds. Participants have been advised to report in full training gear and carry academic transcripts and identification documents for verification.

The school has called on alumni, stakeholders and members of the public to share information about the trials widely to ensure broad participation and equal opportunity for eligible candidates.

Bungoma High School said the scouting exercise forms part of its preparations for the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association competitions, where it aims to strengthen its competitiveness at regional and national levels.

The programme is expected to play a key role in shaping the school’s rugby squad for the 2026 season while reinforcing its reputation as a leading centre for nurturing sporting talent.
