All well at Makueni boys as they admit form ones

Makueni boys high school deputy principal Albert Musyimi has assured parents and students that all is well in terms of form one admission.

Speaking in his office, Musyimi said  that parents started reporting as early as Sunday and that three of the parents were given serial numbers for admission on Monday.

“First we must check whether they are registered with National Education Management Integrated System before anything else. We tried as much as we could to follow covid-19 protocols,” Musyimi said.

The form ones are expected to start their classes by Wednesday but orientation might be towards the end of the week so that they give space for all to report.

The school received 500 applicants due to its popularity in terms of performance and selected 150 based on merit.

In 2020 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education results, the school had a mean grade of 8.76 and it’s targeting a mean of 9.0 and above in 2021.

The school expected a total of 421 students to report. In terms of facility, there is a dorm under construction which will be completed soon.

“We will try as much as we can to utilize what we have in terms of facilities. Having released 257 and receiving 421 there could be a slight challenge in terms of space,” he added.

A parent from Shimba hills said he arrived on Sunday and the reception in school was good especially on Monday when admissions started.

“At least my mind is relived since I went through all the processes successfully. I slept around and it doesn’t matter whether I spent a night again provided my child has been admitted. Nothing is hectic as admitting a form one,” he added.
