Students at St James ACK Mapela Secondary School in Kamukuywa, Bungoma County, are set to benefit from improved access to digital learning following the donation of computers by Governor Kenneth Lusaka.
The equipment was handed over to the school after its administration sought support to strengthen ICT facilities and improve the teaching and learning of Computer Studies.
Speaking during the handover ceremony attended by students, teachers and parents, Lusaka said equipping learners with technology was essential in preparing them for a rapidly changing job market. He described education as a key tool for creating equal opportunities, noting that access to digital skills could help young people compete in an increasingly technology-driven economy.

“Empowering our learners with digital tools is an investment in their future,” Lusaka said, adding that the computers would support both academic work and practical skills development. The governor further reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting schools through programmes aimed at improving the quality and inclusivity of education.
St James ACK Mapela Secondary School Principal Dr Emily Magambo welcomed the donation, saying the computers would address an important gap in the school’s ICT learning programme. Magambo said the equipment would give students greater exposure to practical Computer Studies, improve their preparedness for national examinations and expose them to opportunities available in the digital economy.
The donation is expected to boost the integration of technology into classroom learning while giving students practical digital skills needed in further education and the workplace.
