Mitua Girls Senior School in Bungoma County is set to establish the Omanyala Sprints Club to nurture and develop sprinting talent among students.
The proposed club was discussed during an engagement at the school, where students participated in talks on the initiative and the opportunities it could create for young athletes.
Kenyan sprinter Ferdinand Omanyala, who will serve as the club’s patron, also addressed the students on Monday, encouraging them to believe in themselves and work hard to achieve their goals. Omanyala urged the girls to remain focused on their dreams and take advantage of opportunities to develop their talents, particularly in athletics.

The initiative is expected to provide a structured platform for identifying and nurturing sprinting talent at the school while encouraging students to combine sporting activities with their academic pursuits. School officials and stakeholders are expected to work together in establishing the club and creating an environment that will enable talented students to develop their abilities.
